President Bhandari pardons 289 jailbirds on Constitution Day

KATHMANDU: On the occasion of the Constitution Day, President Bidya Devi Bhandari has granted amnesty to 289 jailbirds doing their times in prisons.

The inmates including Hemraj Tumbahamphe and Ram Dayal Mandal Khatwe were granted amnesty from the President on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

According to a press statement released by Hari Prasad Dahal, the Spokesperson at the Office of the President, the jailbirds were pardoned in accordance with Article 276 of the Constitution of Nepal and Criminal Offences (Sentencing and Execution) Act, 2017 effective from September 20.
