Sajha Party objects to nominating Gautam as NA member

KATHMANDU: Sajha Party has opposed to the nomination of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Vice-chairman Bamdev Gautam to the National Assembly (NA).

In a statement issued on Friday, Sharad Raj Pathak, Co-spokesperson of the party, said that inducting Gautam to the upper house was fatal for democracy.

The party has also urged Prime Minister KP Oli not to include Gautam in the Cabinet, saying that Article 7.4 of the Constitution has barred a person losing the House of Representatives election from becoming a minister.

Gautam was nominated National Assembly member on Thursday by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on the recommendation of the government.
