Abductee rescued three hours after kidnapping; seven held

KATHMANDU: A man who was abducted from Tokha municipality by an unidentified gang has been rescued after three hours.

Acting on a tip-off that Rambabu Sah was abducted, a team of Metropolitan Crime Division, Kathmandu, rescued him safely almost three hours following his abduction.

According to SP Hobindra Bogati, the Spokesperson for the Division, the kidnappers had telephoned Sah’s son demanding Rs 2.5 million.

Sah’s son informed the Division at 10:30 am on Friday about the abduction of his father. A special squad deployed from the Division rescued Rambabu from Lokanthali area at around 1:30 pm on the same day.

Police have arrested seven people on the charge of kidnapping Rambabu. They had taken him hostage following his abduction.

According to a preliminary investigation of the police, Sah had taken Rs 2.5 million from a person on a land transaction issue.  This was the reason behind his abduction.
