NCP Secretariat meeting today

KATHMANDU:  A Secretariat meeting of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is taking place at 3 pm today.

Prime Minister KP Oli and NCP Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at a one-on-one meeting on Friday agreed to hold a meeting of the 9-member powerful Secretariat after postponing the Standing Committee (SC) meeting.

The SC meeting scheduled for 3 pm today was postponed for July 19.

Posting a twitter message, Press Advisor to the Prime Minister Surya Thapa said the SC meeting scheduled for 3 pm on Friday was postponed for July 19 (3 pm).

Earlier, Prime Minister Oli, Dahal and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal on Thursday had agreed to take the intra-party wrangling to the Central Committee meeting after the tripartite meeting made no headway.

However, in less than 24 hours, the NCP canceled the decision and decided to call the party’s Secretariat meeting.

It should be noted that the two sides — PM Oli and Dahal-Nepal — also held meetings separately with the leaders of their respective groups on Thursday evening.

Prime Minister Oli held discussions with leaders of his faction after talks with Chairman Dahal ‘Prachanda’ failed to make any headway.

Deputy Prime Minister and NCP Secretariat member Ishwar Pokharel, General Secretary Bishnu Poudel, Deputy Leader of the Parliamentary Party Subas Nembang and other leaders took part in the meeting at the prime minister’s residence in Baluwatar today.

Similarly, Dahal-Nepal camp also held a meeting with the leaders of their camp at Dahal’s residence in Khumaltar.
