SC issues show-cause notice on debt recovery during lockdown



KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has sought an answer as to why banks and financial institutions have started the process of debt recovery at the time of lockdown.

A single bench of Justices Sapana Malla Pradhan has issued a show-cause order in the writ filed by advocate Sita Devi Shrestha alleging that the banks and financial institutions have started the process of auctioning the collateral during the lockdown.

The show-cause order has been issued today against the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Ministry of Finance, Nepal Rastra Bank, Ministry of Land Management and Cooperatives, National Cooperative Board, Bankers Association and others.
