National Assembly set to pass Constitution amendment bill

KATHMANDU: The National Assembly (NA) is set to pass the constitution amendment bill to implement the new map incorporating Kalapani, Limpiyadhura, and Lipu Lekh today.

The House of Representatives (HoR) has unanimously endorsed the Constitution amendment bill to change the coat of arms.

The amendment bill was tabled in the NA on Sunday.

Law Minister Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe presented the constitution amendment bill for endorsement after clause-wise discussion today.

A two-third majority is required to pass the bill. The NA has 58 members.

Once passed, the NA will inform the HoR and the Speaker will send it to President Bidhya Devi Bhandari for authentication.

After the authentication, the new map will be included in the coat of arms of the Constitution.
