Hospital lactating the 12-day infant orphaned by COVID-19



KATHMANDU: Relatives of the 29-year-old woman who lost her life due to coronavirus on Friday said her 12-day-old infant is in good health and under the care of Dhulikhel Hospital.

According to Raj Kumar Lamichhane, one of the close relatives of the deceased, the infant is in normal health and the medics are nursing the baby in hospital’s isolation.

The deceased’s father, aunt and mother are also in isolation in the same hospital.

The swab of all four have been sent for PCR tests and they are waiting for the result.

“We will decide the precautionary measures and the measures for the further care of the child soon,” one of the medics told Khabarhub.

The 29 year old woman from Bahrabise-9, Ramche Sindhupalchowk had died of COVID-19 while still receiving post-natal care.

She had given birth to a child on May 6 at Maharajgunj based Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu.
