Probe report on MP Yadav ‘kidnapping’ allegation submitted to Attorney’s Office

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police have completed the primary investigation on lawmaker Dr. Surendra Yadav’s ‘kidnapping’ allegation.

Janata Samajbadi Party’s lawmaker Yadav had filed a case against former IGP Sarbendra Khanal, lawmakers Mahesh Basnet and Krishna Kumar Shrestha ‘Kishan’ of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) for ‘kidnapping’ him from Janakpur

Metropolitan Police Circle’s chief Senior Superintendent of Police Shyam Lal Gyawali said that the file is submitted to the district attorney’s office.

“We have completed the preliminary investigation in the issue and submitted the file to District Attorney’s Office,” SSP Gyawali said, “It’s up to the attorney’s office to decide whether to proceed ahead or not.”

Lawmakers duo Basnet and Shrestha together with former IGP Khanal had brought Dr. Yadav from Mahottari to Kathmandu on April 22.

According to sources, the police have recommended clean chit against ‘kidnapping’ allegation’ claiming there is no enough proof to justify the allegation.
