India provides Pathodetect COVID-19 Qualitative RT PCR test kits

KATHMANDU: The government of India has provided Pathodetect COVID-19 Qualitative RT PCR test kits to Nepal.

This can conduct PCR tests on 30,000 people.

Ambassador of India to Nepal, Vinay Mohan Kwatra handed over kits to Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, Minister of Health and Population on Sunday.

The test was manufactured by Mylab Pune.

Earlier, India handed over 23 tons of medicines to Nepal. “Gifting of medicines and test kits manifests continuing cooperation of our leaders and people of two countries to prepare, act and fight together with the common challenge of COVID-19 Pandemic”, a press release issued by Indian Embassy in Kathmandu said.

These initiatives stem from the Prime Minister of India’s video conference with SAARC leaders on 15 March 2020.

India stands in solidarity with the government, health professionals, and people of Nepal in this hour of challenge, the statement added.
