KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba today took the podium of the House of Representatives to point his fingers at the government asking what preparations the government made to contain the coronavirus spread in the last 55 days.

Nepal has been under lockdown since March 24.

Deuba lambasted the government for not taking effective steps to control the spread of coronavirus despite the increasing number of confirmed cases in the country.

“I want to ask the government, what concrete steps did it take to prevent the spread of coronavirus?” Deuba asked the government while coming down heavily on the government for ‘not doing enough’.

Deuba’s allegations come as the country recorded a total of 291 confirmed coronavirus cases Sunday morning and one death in a hospital Saturday evening.

He also alleged the government for failing to expand the ambit of the PCR tests, and not being able to manage the required medical equipment.

“I want to reiterate that the government has utterly failed in controlling the pandemic even four months after the infection in the country,” Deuba said.
