Nepali students in Thailand appeal for repatriation

KATHMANDU: Nepalis who have reached different countries of the world have been appealing to the government to repatriate them due to coronavirus pandemic.

The condition of Nepali workers in the Gulf countries is deteriorating.

They reach the embassy daily appealing to be evacuated. However, the embassy has not been able to do anything other than an assurance of evacuating.

The Nepali government has also said that it is preparing to repatriate Nepalis living abroad soon but the things have not materialized yet.

Nepali students in Thailand have a similar plight. Recently, Nepali students in Thailand reached the embassy and asked to be evacuated as soon as possible.

According to the Nepali Embassy in Thailand, there are 2,589 Nepalis there and of them, 1,100 are students. So far no Nepalis have been infected with COVID-19 in Thailand.
