Ex-Minister Pandey appointed Nepali Ambassador to China



KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday appointed former Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey as Nepali Ambassador to China.

The President made the appointment in line with Article 282 of the Constitution, the President’s Office said in a statement.

A meeting of Parliamentary Hearing Committee on March 23 had endorsed the name of Pandey unanimously after no complaint was registered against him.

A meeting of Council of Ministers held on March 1 had decided to recall the then Ambassador Leela Mani Paudyal and recommend Pandey to the post.

Pandey had assumed the post of Minister for Foreign Affairs under Sushil Koirala led government.
