Nepali workers in Malaysia to receive salary during lockdown



KUALA LUMPUR: Nepali migrant workers who had been facing financial problems in Malaysia after being denied even their basic salary are to receive their salary.

As many as 44 Nepali migrant workers associated with Yang Guang Sofa Company had been deprived of their salary after the company remained shut on March 21.

The stranded Nepali workers on April 13 knocked the door of Nepali Embassy in Malaysia and informed the concerned manpower company and media about their problems.

Acting on their complaint, Nepali Embassy urged the concerned company to provide salary to them.

In response to the Nepali Embassy, Yang Guang Sofa Company agreed to provide salary to the 44 Nepalis by April 28, a Nepali migrant worker associated with the company said.

They had worked in the company until March 20.

A total of 44 Nepali migrant workers had come to Malaysia on Janaury 31, 2020.

The Malaysia government has enforced a lockdown to stem the Coronavirus spread after the deadly virus wreaked havoc across the world.

The death toll from Coronavirus has reached 84 while 5, 182 people have been infected in Malaysia so far.
