Chitwan races to build a corona treatment hospital in 72 hours

CHITWAN: The Bharatpur Metropolitan City-10 is set to construct a special hospital at Chitwan Exhibition Centre for treating COVID-19 cases.

A meeting of stakeholders at the initiation of the metropolis on Tuesday decided to establish a 70-bed hospital to treat coronavirus patients.

Bharatpur Metropolis said the hospital would be constructed within 72 hours in case of an outbreak of COVID-19.

The hospital will have a 10-bed intensive care unit, a 10-bed high dependency unit, and a 50-bed normal unit.

Tuesday’s meeting also formed a 15-member task force with Mayor Renu Dahal as its coordinator.

The task force, authorities said, will adopt and formulate policies for immediate preventive measures to stop the possible outbreak of COVID-19.

Bharatpur CDO Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, Nepal Medical Association central vice-chair Dr Anil Bikram Karki, district coordinate committee representative, and representatives from hospitals, industry associations, Federation of Nepali Journalists among other local stakeholders will be included in the taskforce.

Senior physician Dr Bhojraj Adhikari has been entrusted with the role of the member secretary of the taskforce.

Member Secretary Adhikari informed that different responsibilities were given to different persons to start the construction work soon.
