KATHMANDU: The country witnessed cloudy conditions today with rainfall and snowfall in the high hilly and mountainous areas owing to the influence of the westerly low-pressure system.

Light to moderate rainfall occurred in most of the places while light to moderate snowfall occurred in the high hilly and mountainous areas, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

Meteorologist Sajina Shakya said that precipitation is taking place in most places of the country on Friday due to the influence of the westerly low-pressure system.

Shakya said the weather will most likely improve from Saturday.

The Division in its special weather bulletin for the next 24 hours has warned of the possibility of heavy snowfall in many places in the high hilly and mountainous region of the central and western parts of the country.

It said continuous rainfall is taking place in most places of the country including the Kathmandu Valley since Thursday evening.

Normal life in Kathmandu has been affected due to the rain. According to the Division, Kathmandu received 21 millimeters of rain on Friday.

The minimum temperature in Kathmandu has been recorded at 8.8 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is 14.9 degrees Celsius.
