CIAA files corruption case against River Control Project Chief



KATHMANDU: Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case at the Special Court against Raj Kumar Sribastav, the Project Chief of the Bagmati, Lalbakaiya River Control Project Parwanipur Bara.

The anti-graft body filed the case against him on the charge of indulging in corruption through foul play in awarding the contract of the Lalbakaiya River Control Project.

CIAA has charged Sribastav of preparing the bill and the work completion report and recommending for the payment without examining the quality of the gabion wire used in the construction work of the project.

He is alleged of misappropriating Rs 9 million 664 thousand 296 by preparing faulty documents.

CIAA spokesman Taranath Adhikari said cases have also been filed against Dabang Chhoeden Sherpa, director of the contractor company, Thodung Ajambar Shivaram JV, its manager Baikuntha Prasad Bhandari and another manager Shivaji Shrestha for taking payment for the sub-standard gabion wire by signing on the bill.
