Sarlahi folks demand reopening Nepal-India border point

SARLAHI: The locals in Sarlahi district have demanded with the concerned authority to reopen the border point between Nepal and India in the district that has been shut down to contain the spread of Coronavirus infection.

The dwellers in the no man’s land in this area have stated that the closing of the border point had caused difficulties for them.

The all-sided meeting convened in the District Coordination Committee today has decided to launch protest from tomorrow, said Committee Chief Methur Chaudhary.

The affected ones will be staging a sit-in at Sonawar at Gorakhkali in Malangwa from 11 am to 1 pm on November 17 and 18.

The all-sided meeting comprises representatives from political parties, members of the federal assembly, State Assemblymember, people’s representatives, and people from various sectors.

More protest programs would be launched if the border point is not reopened even after the sit-in protest.
