IPL2020: Mumbai tops tally, clinches 8-wicket win against Kolkata



KATHMANDU: Mumbai Indians has defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by eight wickets in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday night.

Held at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Mumbai reached the target of 149 runs set by Kolkata losing two wickets in 16.5 overs.

Mumbai’s Q de Kock  top-scored with 78 runs including nine fours and three sixes off 44 balls, captain RG Sharma made 35 runs including five fours and  one six off 36 balls while HH Pandya contributed 21 runs.

Kolkata’s CV Varun and Shivam Mavi took one wicket each of  Mumbai.

Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss,  Kolkata notched up 148 runs losing five wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

PJ Cummins scored highest 53 runs while captain EJG Morgan made 39 runs and remained not out.

Mumbai’s RD Chahar took two wickets while TA Boult, NM Coulter-Nile and JJ Bumrah grabbed one wicket each of Kolkata.

With this, Mumbai is atop the points tally with 12 points from eight games while the defeated Kolkata is in the fourth position with eight points from equal eight games.
