Monetary policy unveiled with focus on reviving economy hit by COVID-19



KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has unveiled the monetary policy for the current fiscal year on Friday.

While unveiling the monetary policy, NRB Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari said the policy was focused on minimizing the impact of the coronavirus on the economy.

The government has set a target of 7 percent economic growth in the current fiscal year and to achieve the same goal, some issues have been included in the policy, he said.

Special emphasis has been placed on investing in agriculture, energy and small and medium enterprises with the aim of minimizing the impact of coronavirus on the economy.

The policy aims to promote the Agriculture Development Bank as a leading bank for the development of the agricultural sector.

Similarly, the policy has been formulated to give more incentives to banks and financial institutions to invest in the agricultural sector, said Governor Adhikari.
