100 people killed in landslides in past one month



KATHMANDU: As many as 100 people have been killed and some 46 are missing in landslides across the country in the past one month.

The National Disaster Reduction and Management Authority said 84 people have been injured in the natural disaster.

According to the Authority, as many as three people died in floods, and five others injured within the period.

Meanwhile, 17 people have been killed by lightning strikes in the past one month.

With this, as many as 120 people have been killed in natural disasters, including floods, landslides and lightning.

Likewise, more than 7,000 people have been displaced due to landslides and floods triggered by incessant rains across the country.

Those displaced are from Rautahat, Sapatari, Sankhuwasabha, Lamjung, Jajarkot, Sindhupalchowk, Maygdi and Jhapa districts.

As many as 2,500 people from 500 houses have been shifted to safer areas in Rautahat district after the floods inundated the district.
