Woman who committed suicide in Surkhet tests COVID-19 positive

SURKHET: The woman who committed suicide in Surkhet on Monday has tested COVID-19 positive in posthumous PCR test.

Acording to Dr. Laxmi Narayan Tiwari, the Health Department Chief of Social Development Ministry of Karnali Province, the 25-old woman, who hanged herself at her home in Simta-8 on June 15 tested coronavirus positive in the swab collected before her post-mortem in Mehelkuna Hospital.

He informed that the woman, along with her husband and her 3-year-old daughter, had returned from India on May 25 and had spent 14 days at Simta-based quarantine.

She was sent home when she got coronavirus negative result in RDT.

Her dead body is kept at Mehelkuna Hospital and Nepal Army will arrange for her last rituals.

With this the coronavirus death toll in Karnali has reached 4.
