Three names recommended for IOM dean



KATHMANDU: Three names have been recommended for the vacant post of Dean of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) under the Tribhuvan University.

A recommendation committee formed under the chairman of Prof. Dr. Prem Gyawali has recommended the names of three candidates to Tribhuvan University Executive Council.

The committee recommended Prof. Dr. Pradeep Vaidya, Prof. Dr. Divya Singh Shah and Prof. Dr. Uttam Krishna Shrestha.

The post has been vacant from June 3 after then Prof. Dr. Jagdish Prasad Agrawal retired due to age limit.

As soon as his term expired, Vice Chancellor of TU, Dr. Dharmakant Banskota had formed a three-member recommendation committee under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Gyawali.

A meeting of the TU Executive Council will now appoint one of the recommended names as the Dean.

One of the recommended names Prof. Dr Vaidhya, also a Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, is considered close and favored by Giriraj Mani PoKharel, Minister for Education, Science and Technology.

Likewise, Prof. Dr Shah is Prime Minister KP Oli’s personal physician while Prof. Dr Shrestha Manmohan is the Executive Director of the Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center.
