COVID-19: Govt decides to ready 220 ICU, 1000 isolation beds

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to ready 120 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds in Kathmandu Valley and 100 ICU beds outside the Valley in a bid to prepare for the COVID-19 outbreak.

A meeting of a high-level coronavirus control committee on Monday also decided to ready 1,000 isolation beds.

The meeting decided to ready 20 ICU beds each in Shukraraaj Tropical & Infectious Disease Hospital, Ayurvedic Hospital in Kirtipur, Nepal Army Hospital, Armed Police Force Hospital, Bir Hospital and Patan Hospital.

Likewise, the Ministry of Health and Population has been directed to ready 100 ICU beds outside Kathmandu Valley.

The meeting also decided to conduct COVID-19 screening of passengers at the domestic terminal of the Tribhuvan International Airport.
