New York closes schools, restaurants



NEW YORK: The New York City closes schools from Monday and restaurants, bars and other venues, including theaters from Tuesday in a bid to halt the spread of the coronavirus.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio stated he decided to act as the city faces an unprecedented threat.

“It is high time that we responded with a wartime mentality,” Blasio said.

Likewise, the United States is also extending its European travel by including the United Kingdom and Ireland.

So far, the US has confirmed 69 deaths linked to COVID-19 and 3,774 infections.

New York City with a population of more than eight million has recorded five deaths.
