IPL 2020 schedule out; CSK and MI to clash in opener

NEW DELHI: The match fixtures for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League is out with the opening match between Chennai Super Kings and defending champions Mumbai Indians scheduled to be held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The IPL 2020 will be held from March 29 to May 24.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to make the official announcement regarding the IPL 2020 schedule. The full schedule of the knockout matches will also be released later.

According to ESPNcricinfo, this year’s edition will be on for 50 days compared to 44 in 2019. The BCCI has done away with the Saturday double-headers. Only Sundays will have double-headers this season.

A total of eight teams―Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore―will play seven matches at their home venues.

This is also the first IPL with former India captain Sourav Ganguly as BCCI president.
