Charles Sobhraj demands special force for his security

KATHMANDU: ‘Bikini killer’ Charles Sobhraj, who is currently serving a life sentence, has demanded to be released on the National Democracy day on February 19.

The notorious criminal has been irking the jail administration with his demand for release arguing that he was eligible for commutation of jail term.

As per Nepal’s law, a prisoner aged above 65 years is eligible for commutation of jail term up to 65 percent. But, it is not applicable to foreigners. Sobhraj needs to stay at the jail for four years more.

According to a media report, the notorious murderer has also refused to get admitted to Sahid Gangalal Hospital demanding that a special force should be deployed for his security.

The Central Jail has refused his demand. A hospital inside the central jail had recommended him to get admitted to Sahid Gangalal Hospital. Sobhraj had got his heart’s valve replaced at the hospital some three years ago.
