25 mountains ascended during autumn: DoT

KATHMANDU: A total of 25 mountains have been successfully summited by 535 – 417 males and 118 female — mountaineers this autumn, the Department of Tourism (DoT) has said.

The government had issued permission to climb 53 mountains including Mt Everest this autumn. However, 25 mountains were scaled, it said.

The DoT had permitted 1,210 climbers to scale different mountains for the autumn season.

The government collected Rs 65.7 million from royalty, which is around Rs 10 million more than the last autumn season.

Meanwhile, climbers are attempting to climb Mt Everest, considered rare during the winter season. According to DoT, there has been a significant increase in the number of climbers of late.
