Govt should provide festival allowance to poor: NC



KATHMANDU: The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has demanded that the government should provide special festival allowance to the poor.

The report NC’s COVID-19 Study and Monitoring Committee has demanded that the government should make special provision to offer special relief package and allowance the people worse hit by poverty and the pandemic.
NC Joint Secretary Prakash Sharan Mahat submitted the report to President Sher Deuba at the latter’s residence in Budhanilkantha on Friday.

“We demand that the government should come with a special relief package to the people worse hit both by the coronavirus pandemic and poverty,” Dr. Mahat said, “Considering their difficulty in this festive season, the relief amount should go to this group instantly.”

Similarly, NC has also asked the government to make a conducive environment for all Nepalis who have lost jobs abroad and want to return.

NC has also asked the government to facilitate transportation considering the festivals.
