Kathmandu Valley witnesses record 737 new COVID-19 cases



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has confirmed 737 new cases of COVID-19 in Kathmandu Valley on Wednesday.

Of the total new cases, 652 were detected in Kathmandu, 25 were found in Lalitpur and 60 were confirmed in Bhaktapur.

Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that Nepal currently has 16,242 active cases.

Dr. Gautam stated that a total of 7,701 people are in home isolation and 8,541 in institutional isolation facilities.

Likewise, 7,820 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.

Altogether, 10,494 sample tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Gautam added.

According to Dr. Gautam, 1,068 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 41,706 in the country.

So far, the recovery rate of the coronavirus infected  is 71.5 percent in Nepal.

Similarly, he said that 173  infected ones are receiving treatment in ICU beds and 26 others are in ventilators across the country.

Likewise, 8 people succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours totaling the coronavirus caused deaths 379 so far, the Ministry confirmed.
