PCR test ratio expanding in Sudurpashchim State

MAHENDRANAGAR: The scope of lab test for COVID-19 has been widened in Sudurpashchim State after the laboratory and human resources were increased there.

Prior to this, collected swabs in the State were sent to other places for lab report which was affecting the task of timely result of the test.

With the new provision in place, the checkup ratio has improved. According to Director at the State Health Directorate Dr Gunaraj Awasthi, PCR tests of 2,500 persons have been conducted on daily basis of late.

He further shared that the test was smoothly going on in two labs in Dhangadhi and one lab in Dadeldhura.

He added that they were preparing for the set up next PCR test lab in Doti by August 18 and by next week in Baitadi.

According to Dr Awasthi, they will have the capacity to test PCR of 5,000 individuals on daily basis in the State from the first week of September.

He added that the case rate of infection is decreasing in the State of late.

According to him, a total of 4,829 people were found infected in the State until Saturday night.

Similarly, 4,202 have returned home after complete health recovery in the State so far.
