Shops in New Road to remain closed on Monday, Tuesday



KATHMANDU: All shops in New Road in the capital will remain shut this Monday and Tuesday.

A meeting of the Ward-22 committee of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) decided to shut all shops in New Road, a major trade hub in the capital.

Ward Chairperson Chini Kaji Maharjan said that the shops will remained closed so as to give the shopkeepers time to meet the standards set by the World Health Organization amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The shopkeepers will be allowed to reopen their shops on Wednesday once they make sure they are on a par with the global standards.

The shopkeepers are required to use masks and sanitizer mandatorily whereas sufficient physical distance is made at the shops.
