DIG of Nepal Police tests COVID-19 positive

KATHMANDU: A Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Nepal Police working at the Maharajgunj-based Police Hospital has tested coronavirus positive.

According to the Police Headquarters, the number of coronavirus cases in Nepal Police has reached 551 by Saturday out of which 213 have been discharged after recovery.

SSP Kuber Kadayat, the spokesperson of Nepal Police informed that all COVID-19 cases in the police are in normal health.

According to spokesperson Kadayat informed that the Chief of District Police Office Syangja and Dhading also have also tested coronavirus positive and Syangja’s district police chief has already recovered from the pandemic symptoms as well.

With the alarming number of increase in the case in Nepal Police, the police has arranged for the isolation wards in its battalion.

The Maharajgunj-based 2 No. Battalion of Nepal Police has got an isolation ward of 150 bed capacity.

Similarly, discussions are undergoing to establish an isolation ward shifting the Samakhushi based Disaster Management Battalion.

The government has already decided to upgrade the Police Hospital into a Level-2 standard hospital for the treatment of COVID-19.

Provided the decision is enforced, the hospital which has got the capacity of 10 persons in ICU, will get 10 more ventilators for the treatment of coronaivrus patients.
