FNJ protests anti-press activities

KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has protested anti-press activity, saying working journalists at central office of the Annapurna Post daily published under Nepal News Network International Pvt Ltd have transferred with an intention of relieving them from job.

The FNJ expressed its concern over transfer of Bikash Karki to Kailali, Bishworaj Khanal to Ilam, Sushil Pokharel to Darchula, Dilliraj Upadhyay to Humla, Deepakraj Ghimire to Rolpa and Govinda Devkota to Manang with ill intension.

A press release issued by the FNJ reads, “The FNJ will launch stern agitation gathering at the office of Annapurna Post from coming Sunday if the transfer made with wrong intention is not withdrawn within three days and service and facilities along with cent percent salary is not provided as per the Working Journalist Act.”

The FNJ also objected to the apathy to the request it made on June 17 to provide full salary to journalists and not to force journalists to stay on unpaid leave. RSS
