Locals cautioned as Sunkoshi, Bhoteskoshi rivers swell up

KATHMANDU: Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has cautioned people living near the river banks after the level of water suddenly went up in the Sunkoshi and Bhotekoshi rivers.

The level of water in the Sunkoshi River surged by one meter high this morning, according to Flood Mapping Center, Jalbire in Sindhupalchowk.

Similarly, MFD has advised locals living near the bank of Bhotekoshi River to take safety measures after the flood water swelled up in the river in Bahrabise of Sindhupalchowk.

Earlier, 20 people had gone missing after the landslide occurred in Bahrabise on July 8.

Light to moderate rain is occurring in various places of the country even today due to monsoon.

According to MFD, heavy rain is likely to occur in Pradesh 1, Bagmati Pradesh, Gandaki Pradesh and Sudurpashchim Pradesh and Karnali Pradesh today afternoon and tonight.
