Remittance inflows down by 6.1 pc



KATHMANDU: Remittance inflows have declined by 6.1 percent in the first ten months of the current fiscal year. Remittance of Rs 0.68 trillion has been received in the same period.

The remittance inflow had increased by 19.6 percent in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The growth rate of remittances sent by Nepalis who have gone for foreign employment has been negative due to the global impact of COVID-19.

In terms of the US dollar, remittance inflows declined by 7.4 percent. Such inflows had increased by 9.3 percent in the previous year, according to a report by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).

During the review period, the number of Nepalis seeking labor approval for foreign employment decreased by 2.7 percent.
