SARLAHI: With the onset of the dry season, people in the Chure area have started witnessing a shortage of drinking water.

Locals of this area are worried over drinking water after well and rivulets have started drying up.

Areas, including Parwanipur, Kalinjor, Pattharkot, Narayankhola, Atrauli, and Dhungrekhola usually face drinking water shortage every year in the dry season.

Chairperson of Ward No 13 of Lalbandi Municipality, Shiva Krishna Vaidya, said water resources have gone dry due to growing deforestation and depletion of river and forest areas.

He said most of the tube-wells have dried now, and around 40 to 50 households are bound to visit the neighboring districts to fetch drinking water.
