Lawmakers quiz PM Oli following address to House

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers from different political parties raised queries on various issues following the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s address to the House of Representatives (HoR) upon the completion of two years’ of government formation, today.

Lawmaker Dilendra Prasad Badu said although the PM addressed the parliament for over an hour, he failed to mention a single word on border encroachment in Darchula. He questioned when PM Oli was holding talks with his Indian counterpart on it.

Similarly, Sarita Giri asked when PM’s commitment would be fulfilled.

Pampha Bhusal lashed out the government for not implementing 33 percent of women’s participation in the Cabinet despite the constitutional provision.

Prem Suwal wondered why the government decided to set up the coronavirus isolation in Bhaktapur, ignoring local people’s protests.

Parbata DC Chaudhari questioned why the government tried to influence the case on Lalita land scam although the issue had entered the Special Court.

Amrita Devi Agrahari put for the query why the government was not making public the report of the Lal Commission.

“Why did the government become a puppet of Yeti Airlines,” Dila Sangraula questioned.

Renua Gurung drew PM’s attention towards not implementing the parliamentary committee’s directives.

Ram Bahadur Bista wondered whether the government or the Yeti Company was strong in terms of Gokarna and Shivapuri lease.

Laxmi Pariyar flatly rejected PM’s claim of happy Nepali, saying that why the people were not provided an opportunity to be happy.

Bhawani Prasad Khapung asked when the women teachers working under the child development program got a basic salary.

Prakash Snehi Rasaili demanded a clear view from the government on the MCC at a time when even the leaders of the ruling parties had differing views on it.

Min Bahadur Bishwokarma blamed why the Media Council Bill was still harsh to the journalists.

Rangamati Shahi wondered hot PM condoned NCell in terms of tax evasion when he committed zero tolerance to corruption. She suggested the PM to inspect the Kathmandu Valley roads as he was claiming of the blacktopping 6-km road every day.

Balkrishna Khand blamed that the government brought the bill on NHRC and Media Council to supper citizen’s rights.

Gyanendra Bahadur Karki questioned when MCC goes into the implementation.

Mahendra Ray Yadav viewed although the government was stable, politics was unstable. He said PM Agriculture Modernization Project was not implemented truly.

Dibya Mani Rajbhandari and Rajendra Kumar KC questioned why all Cable crossings were not displaced although the PM Oli had vowed to remove all cable crossings in a year during his first stint.

Chitralekha Yadav said the load shedding occurred five times at Dhobighat, Lalitpur, yesterday. “Is it the end of load shedding,” she asked.

Hira Gurung accused the government of making headway to a single party panchayat system which is proved by the bills the government has presented in the parliament in two years.

Sujata Pariyar questioned why the constitution body Women Rights Commission was left without leadership for two years.
