COVID-19: Death toll reaches 694 with 19 new fatalities in Nepal



KATHMANDU: Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll has reached 694 as of Thursday afternoon with 19 new fatalities in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Nepal has recorded as many as 3,749 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the recent data, the total number of cases reached 121,745 in the country as of Thursday afternoon.

Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor said that altogether 16,598 sample tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours.

According to Dr. Gautam, 3,564 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 84,518 in the country.

Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 69.4 percent, he added. Nepal currently has 36,533 active cases, he said.

Dr. Gautam stated that a total of 12,339 people are in institutional isolation and 24,194 others are in home isolation facilities.

Likewise, 4,825 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.

Similarly, he said that 314 infected ones are receiving treatment in ICU beds and 68 on ventilator support.
