Academic year to end in April: CDC

KATHMANDU: Amid the confusion about the duration of the academic year impacted by coronavirus the Curriculum Development Center (CDC), has claimed that running academic sessions would also come to an end in April as in normal years.

Speaking in a virtual program organized to make the decision of the authority to design, monitor and evaluate the curriculum and syllabus in Nepal Director General Keshav Prasad Dahal said that the date for the beginning of the new academic year and end of the running academic year would remain unchanged.

“Irrespective of when actually the classes started, the session days will be assumed as started from mid-April,” DG Dahal said.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the students have not put their steps into school premises since the third week of March.

Many schools had launched virtual classes since June 15, however, due to the indecisiveness of the government the classes were stalled again from July 16. The studies have resumed from the 3rd week of August.

Out of nearly 9 million students at the school level, most students are beyond the access to online education.
