BARDIYA: Settlements near the bank of Karnali River in Rajapur municipality in the district are at high risk of floods and inundation of late. The area is at high risk after the river started eroding the Tighra area of Rajapur Municipality in the district.
According to locals, the water level in the river is rising continuously pushing local areas in high risk of inundation. The water level is measured nine meters and 10 meters is considered as a high risk of inundation.
With this, locals and local administration have adopted precautions to stop further inundation.
According to Municipality mayor Shiva Chaudhary, they were adopting all kinds of safety measures to minimize the risk.
He added dozens of villages in Tighra are at high risk of inundation and floods. The locals who are in high risk are being shifted to Rajapur bazaar based Food Depot building.
Chief District Officer Liladhar Adhikari has urged the locals to be alert in the risky areas.
