NSU padlocks colleges demanding release of student leaders

KATHMANDU: Nepal Student Union, the student wing of main opposition Nepali Congress, has padlocked various colleges across the country, demanding the release of student leaders and party cadres.

NSU has demanded the release of its nine student leaders and party cadres arrested by the police in Kathmandu and Birgunj in course of a ‘peaceful’ protest demanding an end to shortcomings and political power-sharing in Tribhuvan University, the appointment of office bearers in Pokhara University and other universities and educational reforms.

Likewise, a party cadre was arrested in Birgunj while staging a protest demanding that the control and treatment for COVID-19 infected people be made effective.
