16 dead bodies retrieved from Lidi landslide

Search continues for 23 gone missing



CHAUTARA: A total of 16 dead bodies have been recovered from the landslide that occurred at Lidi of Jugal Rural Municipality-2 in Sindhupalchowk district. Eleven dead bodies were recovered on Friday morning and five others today.

Search for 23 others missing after the landslide is continuous.

The deceased have been identified as Tikamaya Dong, Tshering Dong, Jitai Jhankri, Milan Dong, Sanu Dong, Jaya Bahadur Dong, Dawalhamu Dong, Taralhamo Dong, Pirti Dong, Dhanmaya Dong and Remex Dong.

Similarly, Myla Parang Dong, Mekmaya Dong, Chyama Dong, Vimala Dong and Kabir Dong also died in the landslide.

The last rite of 11 dead ones was performed collectively today, said rural municipality chair Hom Narayan Shrestha, adding that security persons and locals were searching for the missing ones.
