Nepal’s COVID-19 death tally hits 101 as sexagenarian dies in Birgunj

BIRGUNJ:  Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll has reached 101 after a person infected with coronavirus succumbed to the disease in Parsa district.

A 60-year-old man of Birgunj who had been hospitalized seven days ago died in the course of treatment at Narayani Corona Hospital on Friday evening, said Dr Udayanarayan Singh, in-charge of the hospital.

The patient had been admitted to the hospital on August 8. He was suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes and paralysis, according to Singh.

Nepal’s death toll from coronavirus had reached 100 as of Friday evening after five deaths reported in a single day.

Speaking at a regular press briefing this afternoon, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Jageshwor Gautam had said that one man each from Morang, Dhanusha and Siraha and two men from Bara have died of the coronavirus.

Nepal has confirmed 594 fresh cases in the last 24 hours that had taken the national tally to 25,551.
