KATHMANDU: Hong Kong has imposed the toughest measure ever to curb the coronavirus, limiting the group gathering to four from 50 after the coronavirus cases spiked.

The new measures, which came into force on Wednesday, include closures of dine-in restaurants from 6 pm until 5 am while bars are closed entirely.

Similarly, masks are mandatory for people using public transport.

Anyone who does not wear a mask on public transport, risks a fine of 5,000 Hong Kong dollars ($645).

The cases which were rare in May and June have risen sharply in the recent weeks.

Group gatherings will again be limited to four people – a measure last seen during a second wave in March.

Gyms as well as indoor entertainment centers will also remain closed.

According to Worldometer, eight people have died and 1,570 have been infected so far in Hong Kong.
