NC demands action against culprits in quarantine gang-rape case

KATHMANDU: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has demanded the government take strict action against the culprits of gang-rape in a quarantine facility in Kailali.

Issuing a press release on Monday, NC has advised the government to look its face in the pile of mess and mismanagement along with cases like the rape in the quarantine.

“The criminal activities like the rape in quarantine reveal the inefficiency of the government,” NC has said in the release.

NC has claimed that unmanaged quarantine structures that don’t meet the standards for such facilities are turning into the incubation for coronavirus transmission and have made people more vulnerable.

“The incident of rape in the quarantine has raised the question whether such facilities are for people’s safety or punishment,” NC has said ahead, “Such incidents reveal the real character of the communist government and has raised concern on the governance capacity of the communists in Nepal.”

According to the press release, NC has decided to submit a memorandum listing such irregularities and chaos in the quarantine to the Prime Minister on Tuesday.
