Lawmaker Sarita Giri to be suspended

KATHMANDU: Samajwadi Party (SP) has decided to dismiss lawmaker Sarita Giri from the post of lawmaker as well as from the party.

The party is taking action against her for going against the party’s whip to cast votes on the Constitution Amendment Bill related to the revised map of Nepal, said a lawmaker of the SP.

“She submitted a proposal at the parliament against the party’s decision. The party had asked her to withdraw the proposal and cast her vote in favor of the Constitution Amendment Bill. Hence, she will be in soup,” said the lawmaker.

Currently, party leaders Upendra Yadav is in Biratnagar and Dr Baburam Bhattarai is in Gorkha. Once they come back to Kathmandu, the action will be taken against her officially, he said.

Giri is the lawmaker from the Khas-Arya proportional representation quota.
