KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan University (TU) has directed its constituent colleges to prepare for holding the Free Students Union (FSU) election.

The executive council meeting of the Tribhuvan University has decided to hold the election on 26 February.

TU Student Welfare Division chief Ganga Bahadur Thapa stated that the TU has sent letters to 62 constituent colleges for the same.

Thapa said TU will publish the election schedule within January 21 after holding a discussion with the students’ unions.

According to the TU, the FSU election would be held in 62 constituent colleges and around 1,051 affiliated colleges.

Several colleges are without FSU since the FSU election has not been held for the last 10 years.

FSU election, normally, should be held every two years.
