CHITWAN: Nepali Congress(NC) leader Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat has cited that the most awaited mega-donation project Millennium Challenge Corporation (NCP) has not been passed from the parliament due to the internal conflict within the ruling Nepal Communist Party(NCP).

Addressing NC’s protest rally in Narayangadh of Chitwan district, former Finance Minister criticized the government for its lack of transparency and lack of consistency in the development policy.

“MCC compact agreed upon during Sher Bahadur Deuba led government should be passed by the parliament,” former Finance Minister Dr. Mahat told in the program, “ It’s not in the best interest of the country to protest against the 500 million dollar project meant for extension of power line and road networks.”

He criticized the government for its indifference towards the border encroachment from the Chinese side.

“China has encroached border in Humla, Gorkha, Dolakha, Solukhumbu among many other districts,” lawmaker in the federal parliament Dr. Mahat told, “But, the government has kept a mum in such issues and has pretended not to know anything about it.”

He demanded that a joint survey committee should investigate the issue and share the truth with the people.

He also asked the government to resolve the border dispute with India through bilateral talks.

According to Mahat, the government has turned quite insensitive towards the COVID-19 ridden people and the economy.

“The government, very insensibly, is indulged in the corruption and commission cases one after another, the COVID-ridden people and the economy has never been its priority,” said leader Mahat

Main opposition party in the parliament NC on Monday staged a country-wide protest program.
