Deuba asks PM Oli: Have you joined hands with pro-monarchy forces?

HETAUDA: President of the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC), Sher Bahadur Deuba, has raised skepticism over Prime Minister KP Oli’s approach asking whether he has some sort of nexus with the pro-monarchy forces.

Addressing a protest rally against the government in Hetauda on Monday, Deuba claimed that people took to the streets chanting pro-monarchy slogans because of the “ineffective and incompetent” government.

During the address, Deuba said, “I have no idea if Oli met the former king. If not, how did the agitation take place? How did the people hit the streets?”

Deuba also held the PM Oli-led government for being responsible for the pro-monarchy demonstrations.

He, however, ruled out the possibility of restoration of the institution of monarchy in the country.

Raising suspicion, Deuba queried from where did the people gather the courage to chat pro-monarchy slogans?

He also recalled the time when he was detained during the king’s direct regime while fighting for democracy.

“Restoring monarchy is nothing nut illusion,” he told the cheering crowd while blaming the PM Oli-led government for the street protests.
