Four people including a septuagenarian succumb to COVID-19



KATHMANDU: Four more people have died from coronavirus in separate places of the country.

A 60-year-old woman of Itahari-6 in Sunsari and a 37-year-old man of Belbari-10 in Morang have succumbed to the virus in the course of treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan.

The sexagenarian died this morning while the man passed away on Tuesday night. Diabetic woman tested positive for COVID-19 following her admission on September 30, said BPKIHS co-spokesperson Dr Aashish Shrestha.

Similarly, the man who tested positive for the virus on October 7, was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday noon after he suffered from respiratory complications, Shrestha said. With this, the BPKIHS so far has recorded 53 deaths from the pandemic.

Likewise, a 77-year-old woman died from the virus in the course of treatment at Butwal COVID Special Hospital in Rupandehi this morning, informed Dr Bishnu Gautam, the information officer for the hospital.

Originally from Sunwal-9, Nawalparasi, the septuagenarian had been admitted to Lumbini Provincial Hospital on October 12 and tested positive for the virus on the same day.

The elderly, who was being treated at a fever clinic, was brought to Butwal COVID Special Hospital after her condition deteriorated on Tuesday night, according to Dr Gautam.

She was also suffering from cardiac-related ailments, said the hospital. With this, the number of deaths from coronavirus at this hospital has reached 32.

Likewise, a 60-year-old man died from coronavirus while undergoing treatment at Birat Teaching Hospital in Morang district.

Originally from Budhiganga rural municipality-3, Bansbari, the sexagenarian succumbed to the virus at the wee hours of Wednesday.

The infected patient breathed his last at 12:20 am today, according to Sunil Dev, the head of the isolation ward of the hospital.
